Term Four - Follow Your Passions!

Term Four starts with a bang as we learn about road safety and how to keep ourselves safe and well on the road. Constable John will be working with us on this important topic. The theme topic for the term is an exciting one: Follow Your Passions! Students suggestions for topics about which they would like to find out more include animals, fossils, the human body, motor sports, physical sports and a whole host of favourite authors they would like to explore further. It promises to be an exciting term!

Rap-unzel Rules!!

The new Multi-purpose learning centre hosted its first show today, with the NZ playhouse production of Rap-Unzel. This was a funny take on the Idol/X-Factor TV shows, mashed in with traditional fairy tales, songs and music.

Nayland Primary School Cross Country

Today was the Nayland primary school Cross Country. It was a fantastic event, very exciting, and well supported by some great parents. Many thanks to Mrs Gass for organizing everything so very smoothly. The children were very well behaved and many Room 11 Te Whare Koru children did very well. They showed perseverance and a great positive attitude!

Te Whare Koru go for a Signs and Signposts Walkabout

Te Whare Koru went for a walk to Broadgreen to see what signs and signposts are in another school environment. We were so impressed with their library signs, and the positive quality of the messages. We loved how bright and beautiful the signs were too. Students came away full of inspiration and ideas, for ways we could brighten and inform with signs at Nayland Primary.

A-mazing Mazes!!!

This term we are looking at signs and signposts in the world, our area and especially in our school. Somehow this led on to map making - and from there it was just a short step to mazes.
Room 11 Te Whare Koru have made some a-mazing mazes! And we are using this great language experience to write wonderful maze-making instructions.

Taking Macro Photos

Macro Photo is when we take a photo very close.  Sometimes people can't guess what the photo is.  If you take a photo of a bug up close you could see the hairs, colour and eyes..

How do you take a macro photo?

First you have to open the camera.

Next, click the flower.

The macro flower button is not on all the school cameras.

If there is no flower icon on your class camera, press the  FUNC.SET button.

Then choose  in the menu.

Lastly, choose the flower icon (as pictured above)

Then you have to go very close to take a photo of something.

Don't shake when you're taking the photo.  To prevent shake it is good to try mounting the camera on a tripod.

Look at these photos and guess what they are.  For the answer see mu 'Macro Photos Answer' blog.

Macro phots are so cool!

My name is Lucky and I am the class blogger. I am from India. I can speak Hindi and English.

My favourite sport is Cricket and I am so good at cricket. I am so good at batting and I am good at bowling and fielding.   I don't like being wicket keeper.

Room 11 is cool because we have two good teachers, Fire Marion and Fire Jacqui.
